Reuben Martin
My path into the construction industry was not linear, but driven by a deeply personal ambition: the typical Kiwi dream of building my own home. This desire compelled a fundamental career shift. I walked away from my established role as a Personal Trainer to immerse myself in the fundamentals, starting as a labourer on a residential construction site.
After six months of hands-on work, I committed fully to the trade, undertaking an adult apprenticeship to earn my License as a Building Practitioner. I completed my qualification under multiple experienced builders, absorbing diverse methods and standards, which led directly to the founding and current leadership of Villaworx Construction as a Director and Project Manager.A Foundation of Diverse Expertise
What sets this journey apart is the breadth of professional qualifications that inform every project. My background ensures that Villaworx Construction is built on a foundation of analytical thinking, scientific precision, and commercial acumen. My formal qualifications include:

From Kitchen Leadership to Construction Management
My professional journey is defined by a commitment to hands-on excellence, strategic leadership, and a passion for mastering diverse trades. My career began not on a construction site, but in the fast-paced environment of a professional kitchen, where I spent three years as a Head Chef. This experience was foundational, honing my skills in high-pressure project management, precise execution, and leading a team to deliver high-quality results consistently.
Seeking a new challenge, I transitioned into the demanding world of Forestry. Over five years, I developed deep practical expertise, operating heavy machinery like diggers and spending two years mastering the chainsaw. This chapter instilled in me an appreciation for meticulous planning, operational efficiency, and a robust understanding of site logistics and safety.
I brought this unique blend of skills into the Building and Construction industry, where I have dedicated the last nine years. Starting with the construction of townhouses, I quickly progressed to specialising in high-end projects, including luxury villas in the prestigious Te Arai area. For the past five years, I have been managing sites, overseeing all aspects of construction from initial groundwork to final handover. This role allows me to leverage my diverse background, the leadership from the kitchen, the logistical efficiency from the forest, and the technical knowledge from the construction trade, to ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, on time, and within budget. I thrive on translating complex plans into tangible, high-quality structures.
